Watching the tach on a hard pull means your eyes are not on the road. A shift light fixes that. The Wagner Tuning SLM08 Shift Light Module puts a row of LEDs in your line of sight that light up in ascending colors as the revs climb, so you know exactly when to grab the next gear without looking down.

It plugs into an MFD28 or MFD32 multi-function display and takes its signal from the display, so there is no separate tach wire to splice. You set the color sequence, the direction the LEDs fill and the shift point from the display's own menu.

Wagner Tuning MFD28 / MFD32 Shift Light: What You Need

The SLM08 is an add-on for an MFD28 or MFD32 display, which is sold separately. It does not work as a standalone shift light. If you are still choosing a display, see the MFD28 Gen2 display for the E9X 335i or the 3.2 inch Gen2 display for the G8X M2, M3 and M4.

Installation Notes

Installation is plug-in with three wires to the display. This is a special order part, so allow extra lead time, and as an electronic item it is non-returnable once ordered.

  1. Shut the display down before you start.
  2. Pick a spot in your line of sight, near the instrument cluster or on top of the steering column, and route the cable so it cannot be pulled or rub against the steering.
  3. Connect the module to the display connector (orange to 5V, black to ground, blue to the shift output) as shown in the included manual.
  4. Power up, open the shift light settings on the display and use RPM test to set colors, direction and shift point.
