MMX Performance Manual Shifter Carrier Up-Rated Rear Mount - BMW G80 M3 / G82 M4 (2021+) / G87 M2 (2023+)
Fast shifts in a manual G8X should feel crisp and mechanical. From the factory they feel a little rubbery. That vague movement comes from the rear shift carrier bushing, which BMW mounts on soft rubber to keep gearbox vibration out of the cabin. Under load the carrier moves, so part of every input goes into flexing the bushing before it reaches the gearbox.
The MMX Performance Up-Rated Shifter Carrier Rear Mount replaces that bushing with a CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum housing and 80A polyurethane bushings. The carrier stays located under load, so every gate feels more defined, while the small amount of articulation the factory design relies on is still there. NVH goes up only slightly, so it is easy to live with on the street.

It works with the factory shift lever or a short shift kit. With a short shifter it matters even more: a shorter throw makes any slop in the carrier easier to feel, and a firm rear mount lets the kit deliver the precision you bought it for.

MMX lists the full G8X chassis family (G80, G81, G82, G83, G87) with the S58 engine. The mount only applies to cars with the manual gearbox, so it does not fit automatic (M Steptronic) cars, including M3 and M4 Competition models.
Installation Notes
MMX designed the mount as a direct replacement for the factory part with no cutting, drilling or modification, and it can go back to stock any time. A lift or secure jack stands make the job easier.
- Raise and support the car safely.
- Remove the factory rear shift carrier bushing.
- Install the MMX mount in the factory location and torque the hardware to BMW specification.
- Run through every gate with the engine off to confirm smooth engagement, then road test.
