The factory intake on your B48A20T1 was engineered for quiet, not quick. The OEM resonator assembly exists to suppress induction sound, but that same chamber creates turbulence and pressure drop between the airbox and the turbocharger. MMX removed it. In its place sits an 83mm smooth-bore aluminum pipe that gives the B48 a clean, direct path to build boost.

Throttle response sharpens right away. Without the corrugated bellows and resonator chamber restricting flow, the turbocharger spools more efficiently and responds more crisply to inputs. The induction and turbo soundtrack that the OEM system works hard to muffle comes through with more character. On the GP3 and M135i, that is exactly the kind of change you would want.

Key Features

  • Reduces turbulence and pressure loss between the airbox and turbocharger
  • Improves throttle response and turbocharger efficiency
  • Enhances induction and turbocharger sound character
  • Installs using factory mounting points for precise, OEM-quality fit
  • Engineered and designed in the UK by MMX Performance

Vehicle Fitment

Confirmed fitment for vehicles equipped with the B48A20T1 engine:

  • MINI F56 GP3 / John Cooper Works GP (2020-2021)
  • BMW F40 M135i xDrive (2019-2024)

Installation Notes

A straightforward intake-side swap that most enthusiasts can complete at home with basic hand tools. No specialist equipment, tune, or ECU modification required. Factory mounting points are retained throughout.

  1. Disconnect the airbox inlet from the OEM resonator assembly
  2. Remove the OEM resonator from its factory mounting points
  3. Install the MMX Delete Pipe using the factory mounting hardware
  4. Reconnect the airbox inlet and any breather hoses
  5. Start the engine and confirm no air leaks before driving
