The F8X M cars have serious grip and serious power, but BMW still had to tune the factory anti-roll bars for everyone who buys one. That means more body roll than a committed driver wants. You feel it as the car leans and takes a moment to settle before it bites in a fast corner.

The Dinan Lightweight Tubular Adjustable Anti-Roll Bar Set for the BMW F87 M2, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 replaces both factory bars. The 32 mm front bar is adjustable from 57% to 103% stiffer than stock, and the 24 mm rear bar adds up to 13% more stiffness. The car stays flatter and more settled, which keeps the tires working and gives you a more planted, confident feel at the limit.

How the Dinan Adjustable Anti-Roll Bar Set Improves Grip

Less body roll keeps the chassis level, so the tires stay in a better position on the road and generate more mechanical grip. Dinan tunes each bar to the specific chassis, and still allows just enough roll to keep the car compliant on real roads. Both bars are tubular, so the added diameter and stiffness do not come with the weight of a solid bar of the same size.

Tune the Balance to Your Driving

This is not a fixed setting you have to live with. The front bar has 4 holes and 7 possible mounting positions with the supplied adjustable end links, and the rear bar has 3 holes and 3 positions using the stock BMW end links. Start at Dinan's recommended setting, drive the car, and adjust the front to rear balance to suit the street, your tires or a track day. Urethane bushings and heavy-duty brackets with grease fittings keep the bars quiet and easy to maintain. Dinan part number D120-0605. Sold by AutoTecknic, an authorized Dinan dealer.

Installation Notes

Dinan rates this at about 7 hours of labor for both bars. It is a job for a shop or an experienced DIYer with the car safely on jack stands or a lift. The front end links must be centered with the steering pointed straight ahead to prevent binding.

  1. Support the car securely and note the orientation of the stock bars.
  2. Remove the factory front anti-roll bar and components.
  3. Fit the low-profile grease fittings, then install the Dinan front bar with the supplied bushings and urethane grease.
  4. Assemble the adjustable end links and set them to match the stock length and orientation, with the ball joints centered.
  5. Remove the factory rear bar and install the Dinan rear bar with the supplied brackets and fender washers.
  6. Start at the indicated setting and adjust after evaluating how the car handles.
