SaleThe G87 M2, G80 M3 and G82 M4 have huge front grip and an engine that can overpower the rear tires in any gear. What holds them back on a tight road is roll. The factory bars are 23.5mm up front and 21.9mm in the rear, sized for a car BMW expects to spend a lot of time commuting.
The Dinan Front and Rear Sway Bar Set replaces both factory anti-roll bars on rear-wheel-drive G87 M2, G80 M3 and G82 M4 models. You get a 28mm front bar that is 18% stiffer than stock and a 26mm rear bar that is 35 to 48% stiffer, depending on which of its two holes you use. The car stays flatter, turns in sooner and puts more of each tire to work.
Why This Dinan Sway Bar Set Changes the Balance
Notice the numbers. The rear gains more stiffness than the front. That shifts the balance away from understeer and toward a more neutral car that rotates on corner entry instead of pushing wide. The front bar is fixed. The rear bar is 2-hole adjustable, so you can set it softer for the street or stiffer for the track, and fine tune the car to your comfort level.
Both bars are tubular, made from high tensile strength alloy steel and powder coated. Dinan includes polyurethane bushings and grease, so the bars mount firmly without the give of worn rubber.
Dinan Sway Bar Set Install: Be Ready for This
This is not a driveway job. Installing the set requires dropping the subframe, and Dinan quotes 10.3 hours of labor including an alignment. Professional installation is highly recommended. Installation Notes
Plan for a professional shop with a lift and an alignment rack. Dinan quotes 10.3 hours including alignment. Follow the Dinan instructions included with the set.
- Raise and support the car on a lift.
- Lower the front subframe as described in the instructions to access the front bar.
- Replace the front and rear bars, fitting the new polyurethane bushings with the supplied grease.
- Choose the rear bar hole for your use and reconnect the end links.
- Reinstall the subframe, torque all fasteners to spec, and perform a full alignment.
