The Dinan Semi-Open Cold Air Intake for B58-powered F-Chassis BMWs improves on the factory design by enlarging both the airbox and filter element, reducing turbocharger strain and improving throttle response throughout the rev range. The semi-open aperture adds an intake sound component for a more engaging driving experience compared to the closed-box equivalent. The intake pipe received equal engineering attention: the factory tube incorporates baffling and a Helmholtz resonance chamber designed to suppress intake sound, features that also generate turbulent airflow and cost the system available power. Dinan removes both, replacing them with a smooth, high-flow path that better serves what performance-oriented drivers are actually after.
