The Dinan Performance Spring Set for the G42 M240i xDrive lowers the car 7/8" (22mm) front and rear and adds 24% more spring stiffness at both axles. The stance gets tighter, the wheel gap shrinks, and the car stays flatter through corners, under braking and on corner exit.
How Dinan Performance Springs Tune the M240i xDrive
Dinan uses a dual rate spring up front and a linear rate spring in the rear. The dual rate front stays compliant over small bumps, then firms up as you load the nose on turn-in. The linear rear gives a consistent, predictable response when you put power down on exit. Together they cut body roll, dive and squat and give the steering a crisper edge.
Each spring is CNC wound from high tensile chrome silicon wire and shot-peened for stress relief, built to last the life of the car without sagging.
Dinan M240i Springs With Adaptive M Suspension
If your car has Adaptive M Suspension, you keep it. These springs are compatible with the factory electronic shocks, so your drive modes still work. Dinan designs the springs to be installed with the matching Dinan Ride Quality and Handling Kit to keep proper suspension travel at the lower height. Installation Notes
Dinan quotes 8.4 hours of labor. Spring swaps mean compressing coil springs, so a shop or an experienced DIYer with the right tools is the way to go. Finish with an alignment.
- Raise the car and remove the wheels.
- Remove the front strut assemblies and use a spring compressor to fit the Dinan dual rate front springs with the Ride Quality and Handling Kit parts.
- Replace the rear springs with the Dinan linear rate springs and fit the matching kit components.
- Reinstall all components, lower the car and let the suspension settle, then torque the suspension bolts at ride height.
- Have a four-wheel alignment done at the new ride height.
