The M550i is a genuinely fast sedan. Lean on it through a freeway ramp, though, and the soft factory springs let the body roll and the nose dive under braking. It sits a little tall, too. You want it tighter and lower without turning your daily driver into a buckboard.
The Dinan Performance Spring Set for the BMW G30 M550i xDrive lowers the car 3/4 in. front and rear and raises spring stiffness 15% at both ends. The result is less roll, less dive and less squat, sharper turn-in, and a lower stance that closes up the wheel gap.
Why the Dinan M550i Spring Set Rides Better Than Typical Lowering Springs
Most lowering springs drop the car and eat suspension travel, which is how you end up bottoming out over dips. Dinan pairs these springs with a Supplemental Ride Quality and Handling Kit (D193-3071) that uses tuned progressive bump stops to keep full travel at the lower height. Without the kit you will not get the advertised ride height or ride quality, and Dinan will not warranty handling or ride complaints that come from skipping it.

Vehicle Fitment
Fits the following all-wheel-drive BMW 5 Series:
- BMW M550i xDrive / G30 Sedan (2018-2023): M550i xDrive
Does not fit the 540i, rear-wheel-drive 5 Series, the G31 Touring, the F90 M5 or the G60 5 Series.
Installation Notes
This is a shop job. Dinan quotes about 8.7 hours of labor, and a wheel alignment to Dinan's specifications is required afterward. Measure and align with a full fuel tank and no extra weight in the car.
- Safely support the car and remove the front struts and rear springs following the Dinan instructions.
- Install the Dinan front springs. If you bought the D193-3071 kit, fit the Dinan front bump stops and move the stock front bump stops to the rear shocks as directed.
- Install the Dinan rear springs and reinstall all suspension components to factory torque.
- Lower the car, drive a short distance to settle the springs, and check ride height.
- Perform a four-wheel alignment to Dinan's published specifications.
