The E90 M3 is the four-door with a high-revving naturally aspirated V8. It also rolls onto its outside tires more than the S65 deserves. Wind it out through a fast sweeper and you want the chassis to feel as sharp as the engine sounds.
The Dinan Performance Spring Set for the E90 M3 Sedan lowers the car 1/2" front and rear for tighter suspension geometry and a more aggressive stance. The bigger change is how it moves. Dinan calibrated the rates to control body roll, reduce dive and squat, and sharpen steering response, while keeping the ride usable on real roads.
What Dinan Performance Springs Do for the E90 M3
Stiffer, calibrated rates mean less rear compression when you get on the throttle out of a corner and less front dive when you brake hard. With less body roll, the car turns in more crisply and holds a line with less correction. At high speed you feel the difference as extra grip and a calmer chassis.
Each spring is CNC wound from high tensile chrome silicon wire and shot-peened for stress relief. They are built to hold their rate for the life of the car rather than settle over time.
Dinan E90 M3 Springs With or Without EDC
Whether your M3 has the optional EDC electronic dampers or standard shocks, these springs work with both. The part that changes is the Ride Quality and Handling Kit. Dinan designs these springs to be installed with the matching kit, which uses shorter, stiffer bump stops and spring perches to keep proper suspension travel at the lower height, and there is a version for EDC cars and one for non-EDC cars. Skip the kit and ride and handling suffer, and Dinan's warranty will not cover ride or handling complaints. This set fits the E90 Sedan only, not the E92 Coupe or E93 Convertible. Fits the following S65-powered BMW M model:
- BMW M3 / E90 Sedan (2008-2011): M3 Sedan, with or without EDC
Not compatible with the E92 M3 Coupe or E93 M3 Convertible.
Installation Notes
Dinan quotes 7.5 hours of labor. You will be compressing coil springs, so use a shop or a proper spring compressor and know what you are doing. Plan an alignment afterward.
- Raise the car and remove the wheels.
- Remove the front strut assemblies and use a spring compressor to fit the Dinan front springs with the Ride Quality and Handling Kit parts.
- Support the rear suspension and replace the rear springs, fitting the kit's bump stops and perches.
- Reinstall all components, lower the car and let the suspension settle, then torque the suspension bolts at ride height.
- Have a four-wheel alignment done at the new ride height.
