The Dinan High Flow Middle Exhaust for the BMW G80 M3 and G82/G83 M4 replaces the factory center section from the secondary catalysts back to the axle-back. Both resonators come out, 3 in. (76mm) T304 stainless tubing goes in, and a hand-fabricated mandrel-bent X-pipe sits at the center. Dinan says the result is a more aggressive tone and more volume than stock, and the part is 5 lbs lighter than the factory piece.
How the Dinan High Flow Middle Exhaust Changes the S58 Sound
Stamped X-pipes pinch the tube in the bends. Dinan's X-pipe is mandrel-bent, so the diameter stays constant through the crossover and flow stays even to both sides with minimal restriction. Balancing the two sides also removes the tonal unevenness you hear from the resonated stock mid-section. What you get is a fuller, smoother note with a clear step up in volume.
It is 100% stainless steel with factory-like fitment and all mounting hardware included. You can run it with the factory rear section, the BMW M Performance exhaust, or the Dinan axle-back for the complete Dinan system.
Middle Exhaust Fitment and Legal Status
Check your rear section first. Dinan confirms fitment with the stock exhaust, the M Performance exhaust and the Dinan axle-back. Other aftermarket axle-backs are not guaranteed to fit. Install is about 1.5 hours with no cutting. Dinan classifies the part as not affecting vehicle emissions and legal for sale or use on emissions-controlled vehicles. Dinan part number D660-0094. Installation Notes
A shop or DIYer with a lift can do this in about 1.5 hours. Follow the Dinan instructions included with the kit.
- Let the exhaust cool completely and raise the car safely on a lift.
- Support the rear section and loosen the clamps at both ends of the factory center section.
- Release the center section from its hangers and remove it.
- Fit the Dinan middle exhaust in the factory location using the supplied hardware, leaving clamps loose for alignment.
- Align the full system, torque every clamp and check for leaks with the engine running.
