Dinan Front Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit - BMW G20 / G22 / G42 / G29 Z4 (2019-2026)
SaleTurn in on a G20 and there is a small, soft pause before the car commits. You feel it again under hard braking as a faint shimmy through the wheel. That is the rubber in the front tension struts doing its job for comfort, and blunting the connection you actually want.
The Dinan Front Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit replaces those rubber bushings with precision ball joints in machined aluminum housings. It fits the BMW G20 3 Series, G22/G23/G26 4 Series, G42 2 Series Coupe and G29 Z4. Old-school BMW owners called this a monoball kit. The result is the same: quicker, cleaner steering response and less brake shimmy.
How the Dinan Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit Sharpens Steering
Rubber tension strut bushings deflect under load, so every steering input and every brake application has a little slack in it. A ball joint does not deflect. The wheel's position stays where the suspension geometry says it should, and the steering tells you more about what the front tires are doing.
Worried about harshness or noise? That is the reason Dinan uses nylon-lined, sealed bearings. They stay quiet and keep grit out, so the kit feels tight without turning your daily driver into a track car. Dinan part number D280-0022. Sold by AutoTecknic, an authorized Dinan dealer.

Installation Notes
This is a shop-level job. Dinan rates it at about 4 hours, and the tension struts have to come off the car so the ball joints can be pressed into place. If you do not have a press, have a shop handle it. Plan on a wheel alignment afterward.
- Safely raise and support the front of the car and remove the front wheels.
- Unbolt and remove each front tension strut from the car.
- Press out the factory rubber bushing and press in the Dinan ball joint and housing as the instructions direct.
- Reinstall the tension struts, then torque the fasteners to BMW spec with the car at ride height.
- Refit the wheels and get a four-wheel alignment.
