The Dinan Carbon Fiber Front Strut Tower Brace ties the two front towers together on the BMW E60 5 Series and M5 and the E63/E64 6 Series and M6. Real carbon fiber rods are held in black powdercoated forged aluminum ends that bolt to the factory mounts. It improves chassis rigidity and frames the engine in genuine carbon fiber, at just 4.2 lbs.
Why a Carbon Fiber Strut Tower Brace
Steel braces work, but they add weight high up at the front of the car. Carbon fiber is stiff for its weight, which is why Dinan uses aerospace quality carbon rods paired with forged aluminum ends. You get a firmer connection between the front towers and more direct steering feel without loading up the nose. It works with the factory suspension or a full Dinan setup.
Install and Fitment Check
The brace mounts to the factory attachment points, and Dinan quotes about 0.5 hours of labor. No cutting or drilling. One thing to confirm before you order: Dinan states it is not compatible with E60 xi (all-wheel drive) models. It is a chassis part and has no effect on emissions or tuning. Installation Notes
A simple bolt-on that most owners can do in the driveway in about half an hour. Work on a cool engine and follow the Dinan instructions included with the brace.
- Open the hood and remove any covers blocking the front strut tower mounting points.
- Remove the factory strut tower nuts or bolts where the brace ends will sit.
- Position the brace across the engine bay and seat both forged aluminum ends on the factory mounts.
- Reinstall the fasteners and torque them to BMW specification.
- Refit any covers and check that nothing contacts the brace with the hood closed.
