The Dinan Gloss Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake replaces the factory intake on the 2020 and newer BMW G01 X3 M40i and G02 X4 M40i. On Dinan's flow bench it moves 589 CFM against 458 CFM for the stock system at 24 in. H2O, through a revised airbox with 66% more volume and a filter with 44% more area.
How the Dinan X3 M40i Cold Air Intake Flows More
The stock airbox holds 150 in3. Dinan's revised box holds 250 in3, and the washable, reusable high-flow pleated cotton gauze filter grows from 57 in2 to 82 in2. The optimized carbon fiber intake tube and semi-open design with multiple sound ports feed the turbo with less restriction, and Dinan removes the factory upper intake resonator entirely. The result is sharper throttle and turbo response and a turbo sound you can actually hear from the driver's seat.
The intake tube is real gloss twill carbon fiber, not a vinyl wrap or a hydro-dipped plastic cover. Pop the hood and it finally looks like the M Performance engine it is.
X3 M40i and X4 M40i Intake Install, Tuning and Legal Status
It is a bolt-on with about 1 hour of labor, and no tune is listed as required. Check your model year first: it fits 2020 and newer cars only, because the 2018-2019 pre-LCI cars use a different intake layout. Before you order, know this: it is not legal for sale or use in the State of California. It is legal under EPA Tampering Policy provisions in other states, and a CARB Executive Order for 50-state compliance is pending. Dinan part number D760-0075. Vehicle Fitment
Fits the following B58-powered BMW M40i models:
- BMW X3 / G01 (2020-2024): X3 M40i

Not compatible with 2018-2019 pre-LCI X3 M40i or X4 M40i models, or with the G45 X3.
Installation Notes
A DIYer with basic hand tools can finish this in about an hour. Work on a cool engine and follow the Dinan instructions included with the kit.
- Let the engine cool and remove the engine cover.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the factory intake tube, upper resonator and airbox.
- Install the Dinan airbox and cotton gauze filter in the factory location.
- Fit the carbon fiber intake tube and secure every clamp with the supplied hardware.
- Reinstall the engine cover, start the engine and confirm there are no warning lights or loose connections.
