The Dinan Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake for the F80 M3, F82 / F83 M4 and F87 M2 Competition replaces it with a sealed system that feeds the engine cold outside air through a straighter, freer flowing carbon fiber tube.
Dual airboxes about 20% larger than stock hold 30% larger cylindrical filters, and the intake gives the S55 a slightly more audible, sportier tone. It also turns the engine bay into something worth showing off.
Dinan S55 Intake Power Gains: What to Expect
Dinan rates this intake at up to +14 hp at 6000 rpm and +21 lb-ft at 3000 rpm when it is paired with engine tuning, and reports consistent gains over Stage 1 when combined with Stage 2 DINANTRONICS tuning where applicable. On a stock ECU, the main gains are throttle response and sound rather than the full rated number.

Emissions and Legality
Dinan states this intake is legal for on-street use in states that accept the provisions of the EPA Tampering Policy dated November 23, 2020. It is not legal for sale or use in California. CARB testing is pending, and Dinan will move it to 50-state legal status once an EO number is issued.
Installation Notes
This is a bolt-on intake, and Dinan estimates 2 hours of labor. Follow Dinan's installation instructions.
- Work on a cold engine.
- Remove the factory intake and airboxes as described in Dinan's instructions.
- Install the Dinan airboxes, filters, MAF housing and carbon fiber tube, then reconnect every sensor and hose you disconnected.
- Tighten all clamps, start the engine and confirm there are no warning lights before driving.
