Bigger filters need a bigger box. Dinan enlarged the carbon fiber airbox lid as far as the hood clearance allows, increasing airbox volume by about 15%. The stock lower airbox stays in place, so the fit is factory tight and the install is fast. The lid is genuine carbon fiber, and it changes how the engine bay looks the moment you open the hood. You will hear the difference too, with a more pronounced intake note when you lean on it.

Dinan X5M and X6M Intake Install and Legal Status
Install takes about 30 minutes. The Dinan lid and filters work as a set, since the custom filters only fit the Dinan lid. Know this before you order: it is not legal for sale or use in the State of California. Fits the following S63-powered BMW M SAV models:

Not for the F95 X5M or F96 X6M, or the non-M F15 X5 and F16 X6.
Installation Notes
This is one of the quickest intake installs Dinan makes, about 30 minutes with basic hand tools. The stock lower airbox stays in the car.
- Let the engine cool and remove the engine cover.
- Release the factory airbox lid fasteners and remove the lid and both factory filters.
- Set the two Dinan custom filters into the factory lower airbox.
- Fit the Dinan carbon fiber lid and secure it with the fasteners.
- Reinstall the engine cover, start the engine and check for warning lights.
