The Dinan Adjustable Sway Bar Set replaces both factory anti-roll bars on rear-wheel-drive BMW G22, G23 and G26 430i and M440i models. A 28mm front bar (vs 26.1mm stock) is 50% stiffer. A 19mm rear bar (vs 17.8mm stock) is 54% to 66% stiffer depending on the hole you choose. Less body roll, crisper response, and a car that feels tied down in every corner.
Why an Adjustable Sway Bar Set for the G22 430i and M440i
The rear bar has two adjustment holes, so you decide the balance. Use the softer setting for a neutral, confidence-inspiring street car. Go to the firmer setting to help the car rotate on a track day or a tight canyon road. Both bars are made from high tensile strength alloy steel with tubular (hollow) construction, so you get the stiffness without carrying the weight of solid bars. Polyurethane bushings and grease are included.
Dinan Sway Bar Fitment: RWD Only, Professional Install
Read this before you order. This set fits rear-wheel-drive (non-xDrive) cars only. It does not fit any xDrive 430i or M440i. Check your VIN or window sticker if you are not sure. Installation also means lowering the front and rear subframes, so Dinan highly recommends a professional install, followed by a mandatory alignment. Dinan quotes about 9.5 hours including alignment. Installation Notes
This is not a driveway job. Both subframes have to be lowered, which is why Dinan highly recommends professional installation. An alignment is mandatory afterward.
- Disconnect the battery, raise the car and remove the wheels and underbody covers.
- Front: disconnect the steering rack and end links, remove the motor mount bolts, lower the front subframe about 4 to 6 inches, then unbolt the brackets and remove the factory bar.
- Install the Dinan 28mm front bar with the supplied bushings and grease, then raise and secure the subframe and reconnect everything.
- Rear: remove the exhaust and heat shields, support the differential, lower the rear subframe about 3 inches, and swap in the Dinan 19mm rear bar in your chosen hole.
- Torque all hardware to spec at ride height and have a four-wheel alignment done.
