The F85 X5M has 567 horsepower and the reflexes of a sports sedan, but from the factory it sits like it is ready for a trailhead. That gap over the tires undercuts everything else about the car. You bought an M. It should look like one.

H&R Sport Springs are the cleanest fix. These F85 X5M lowering springs drop your truck 1.3 inches front and 1.3 inches rear, per H&R's published figures, for an even, planted stance with less body roll and a lower center of gravity. No new dampers, no coding, no compromise in daily usability.

F85 X5M Lowering Springs Built for Daily Driving

H&R designs its Sport Springs to work with the factory dampers, including the X5M's electronically adjustable adaptive suspension, so your drive modes keep working the way BMW intended. The progressive spring design stays compliant over broken pavement and firms up as load builds in a corner, which is exactly what a performance SUV weighing well over two tons needs. You get sharper turn-in and less lean without the jarring ride of a race setup.

Worried about cheap springs that sag after a year? H&R winds every spring in Germany from 54SiCr6 spring steel, shot-peens it for fatigue life, and tests each one in an ISO 9001 certified facility. The ride height you set is the ride height you keep. Sold by AutoTecknic, an authorized H&R dealer.

Installation Notes

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Coil springs are stored energy, and swapping them safely requires a proper spring compressor and suspension experience. A four-wheel alignment is required after installation, because lowering changes camber and toe. Plan on roughly a half day at a qualified shop.

  1. Raise and securely support the vehicle, then remove the wheels.
  2. Remove the front strut assemblies and use a spring compressor to swap the factory springs for the H&R springs, reusing the factory mounts and hardware.
  3. Complete the rear of the car following H&R's instructions for your exact configuration.
  4. Torque suspension fasteners to factory spec with the vehicle at ride height, not hanging on the lift.
  5. Let the springs settle for a few hundred miles, then get a full four-wheel alignment.
