The E71 X6M put M power, all-wheel drive, and a twin-turbo V8 under a coupe roofline, and it still pulls hard. What dates it is the ride height. A measured drop makes the whole car look a generation newer.

H&R Sport Springs deliver that drop on cars equipped with factory rear self-leveling suspension. These E71 X6M lowering springs lower the front approximately 1.2 inches, trimming the wheel gap and the nose-high look. This kit, H&R part number 50435-4, is the self-leveling version.

E71 X6M Lowering Springs for Rear Self-Leveling Cars

H&R makes separate E70/E71 kits for cars with and without factory rear self-leveling air suspension, and they are not interchangeable. This listing is the version for cars with rear self-leveling. If your X6M uses conventional rear coil springs, choose the H&R E71 X6M Without Rear Self-Leveling kit instead. Not sure which you have? Send us your VIN before you order and we will confirm it.

H&R designs its Sport Springs to work with the factory dampers, so there is no need to replace your shocks. Every spring is made in Germany from shot-peened 54SiCr6 spring steel and tested in an ISO 9001 certified facility, so it holds its height. Sold by AutoTecknic, an authorized H&R dealer.

Installation Notes

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Coil springs are stored energy, and swapping them safely requires a proper spring compressor and suspension experience. A four-wheel alignment is required after installation, because lowering changes camber and toe. On self-leveling cars, follow H&R's instructions for setting rear ride height. Plan on roughly a half day at a qualified shop.

  1. Raise and securely support the vehicle, then remove the wheels.
  2. Remove the front strut assemblies and use a spring compressor to swap the factory springs for the H&R springs, reusing the factory mounts and hardware.
  3. Complete the rear of the car following H&R's instructions for your exact configuration.
  4. Torque suspension fasteners to factory spec with the vehicle at ride height, not hanging on the lift.
  5. Let the springs settle for a few hundred miles, then get a full four-wheel alignment.
