H&R Sport Springs - BMW E70 X5M (2010-2013, Without Self-Leveling, 1.2 in. Front Drop)
SaleThe E70 X5M brought M power to the SUV world, and it still feels special every time the twin-turbo V8 spools up. You do not need it slammed. You just want it to sit like an M car instead of a lifted grocery getter.
These E70 X5M lowering springs from H&R are built for cars without rear self-leveling, the ones with conventional rear coil springs. They drop the car approximately 1.2 inches front and 1.2 inches rear, an even, factory-looking stance that trims the wheel gap and lowers the center of gravity.
E70 X5M Lowering Springs for Coil Spring Rear Suspension
H&R designs its Sport Springs to work with the factory dampers, so there is no need to replace your shocks. The progressive spring design keeps the ride compliant over rough pavement while reducing body roll when you lean on it in a corner. Every H&R spring is made in Germany from shot-peened 54SiCr6 spring steel and tested in an ISO 9001 certified facility, so it holds its height. Sold by AutoTecknic, an authorized H&R dealer.
H&R part number 50435-3. This is the Without Self-Leveling kit with the 1.2 in. front drop.
Which Kit Do I Need?
H&R makes four E70 X5M sport spring kits, and the right one depends on your rear suspension and how low you want to go. Cars with factory rear self-leveling suspension use rear air springs and need a With Self-Leveling kit: 50435-2 (2.0 in. front drop) or 50435-4 (1.2 in. front drop). Cars with conventional rear coil springs need a Without Self-Leveling kit: 50435 (2.0 in. front, 1.2 in. rear) or 50435-3 (1.2 in. front and rear). To check, look behind a rear wheel for an air spring instead of a coil spring, or look for rear self-leveling suspension on your build sheet or a VIN decoder. After that, 2.0 in. versus 1.2 in. is simply your drop choice. Still unsure? Send us your VIN and we will confirm it before you order.

Installation Notes
Professional installation is strongly recommended. Coil springs are stored energy, and swapping them safely requires a proper spring compressor and suspension experience. A four-wheel alignment is required after installation, because lowering changes camber and toe.
- Raise and securely support the vehicle, then remove the wheels.
- Remove the front strut assemblies and use a spring compressor to swap the factory springs for the H&R springs, reusing the factory mounts and hardware.
- Swap the rear coil springs following H&R's instructions.
- Torque suspension fasteners to factory spec with the vehicle at ride height, not hanging on the lift.
- Drive a few hundred miles to let the springs settle, then get a full four-wheel alignment.
