The factory intake resonator on the B48-powered F39 X2 M35i and MINI JCW exists for one reason: to kill intake noise. It contributes nothing to filtration or flow — it's a restriction with no upside for performance. Dinan's resonator delete replaces that section with a straight-through pipe, eliminating the bottleneck while giving the engine a more direct, mechanical induction sound that reflects what the B48 turbo is actually doing under the hood.
