This is the Dinan Replacement Air Filter for the right side of the Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake on the BMW F85 X5 M and F86 X6 M. Each Dinan filter offers 146.2 sq in of filter area, compared with 44.5 sq in for a stock filter, and uses deep-pleated multi-layer cotton for flow and filtration.
Right Side Replacement Air Filter, Sold Individually
Read this before you order: this listing is one right-side filter. The left-side filter is a different part, Dinan D401-0024, and is sold separately. Dinan recommends replacing both filters at the same time so the two banks flow evenly. If you need both sides, order one of each. Dinan part number D401-0023. Why Use a Genuine Dinan Replacement Filter
The Dinan filter is shaped to fit the oval openings in the factory airbox under the Dinan carbon lid, with rubber blocks that locate it correctly. A steel wire mesh supports the cotton media so it keeps its shape and resists dents. A generic filter will not match that fit, and a poor seal lets unfiltered air reach the turbos.

Installation Notes
Replacing both filters takes about 15 minutes with basic hand tools. Keep the factory screws, since they are reused.
- Remove the Dinan carbon fiber lid and set the fasteners aside.
- Remove the center airbox screw and the filter support bracket, then lift out the old filters.
- Install the new filters into the oval openings with the rubber blocks pointing down.
- Refit the support bracket and center screw.
- Reinstall the carbon lid with the factory hardware, checking that the foam seal sits flush.
