The E63 and E64 have aged well, with one exception: the kidney grilles. Years of sun and road grit leave the factory plastic chalky, faded, and loose in the surround. It's the first thing anyone sees when they walk up to the car, and it makes an otherwise clean 6 Series look tired.

These AutoTecknic carbon fiber kidney grilles replace both factory grilles with a genuine carbon fiber skin over an OEM-spec ABS core. You get real 1x1 plain weave carbon up front, with the same clip-in fit as the parts you're taking off.

Real Carbon Fiber Kidney Grilles, Not a Wrap

The carbon on these grilles is a real woven carbon fiber layer. It's not vinyl, not a printed film, and not hydrodip. Underneath is a molded ABS core made from 100% non-recycled raw plastic. That's on purpose. ABS gives the clips and tabs the strength and flex they need to lock into the grille surround, so the grilles sit tight and stay put.

Every outer ring and slat is finished individually, so you get clean, even paint and clear coat quality across the whole grille.

Installation Notes

This is a driveway job with basic hand tools and a plastic trim tool. There's no cutting or drilling. On older cars the factory grilles get brittle, so expect some of the old clips to break on the way out. That's normal and doesn't affect the new grilles.

  1. Open the hood and locate the retaining tabs on the back side of each factory grille.
  2. Release the tabs with a plastic trim tool and push the factory grille out.
  3. Clean the opening and the surround.
  4. Line up the new grille's clips with the mounting points and press firmly until each clip seats.
  5. Repeat on the other side and check the panel gaps before closing the hood.
